How much does a custom fishing rod cost?
The price depends on the type of rod, the blank, components, and how much custom work you want. Most basic builds start around $275, plus tax and shipping. Once I know what you’re looking for, I can give you a better idea of the cost and help you choose something that fits your needs and budget.
What do you need to know before building a custom rod?
I’ll usually ask what kind of fishing the rod will be used for, the species being targeted, and whether the angler prefers a spinning, casting, or fly rod. We’ll also talk about length, action, handle style, colors, and other details. If you’re buying it as a gift and don’t know all of that, don’t worry. I can help walk you through it.
Can you personalize a rod for a gift or special occasion?
Absolutely. I can personalize a rod with a name, colors, decals, threadwork, or other details that make it more personal. I’ve built rods for birthdays, retirements, graduations, memorials, and other special occasions.
How long does it take to build a custom rod?
That depends on my current build schedule and whether the blank and components are available. Since every rod is built one at a time, it’s always better to contact me early, especially if you need it by a certain date.
Can you ship a custom rod?
Yes, I can ship rods within the United States. I package them in heavy-duty Schedule 40 PVC pipe to help protect them during shipping. The shipping cost will depend on the length of the rod and where it’s going.
